Guarana and Weight Loss

Posted by Steve Reeve on

Guarana comes from a plant found in Brazil and Venezuela.

Its seeds contain caffeine. Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system, increasing the heart rate and metabolic rate. This temporary rise in energy levels encourages physical activity.

Those working out will want to train harder and longer. This activity burns calories which helps create the negative energy balance required for weight loss. (Daily calories burned needs to be greater than the daily calories consumed).

It is also believed that guarana encourages the mobilisation of stored fat as the energy source for this extra energy expenditure.

Most users report reduced appetite too which further aids the negative energy balance.

However, it should not be taken by those sensitive to caffeine.
