What Is An Acne Patch?

In the past couple of years acne patches have become very popular, but what are they?

Some are small dots containing acne/spot treating medications, but the best ones are hydrocolloid patches.

These do not have ingredients slapped on a patch, but rather, hydrocolloid (Sodium carboxy methyl cellulose) is a material that is also the adhesive. Its composition forms a gel which sticks to your skin. This adhesion also sucks in fluids and puss without drying the surrounding skin.

As well as reducing swelling by drawing out fluids they also provide protection against infection by stopping you from touching the acne/spots with dirty hands and provides a moist healing environment.
